The BioGrace-II project runs from April 2012 until March 2015.

Phase 1 "Drafting of products” (April 2012 to January 2013)

The first version of the Excel tool and the methodological background document will be draftet. This work largely relies on the publication of the follow up report of the European Commission report COM(2010)11 on sustainability requirements for the use of solid and gaseous biomass sources in electricity, heating and cooling which is due in 2012. During the drafting of the products, dissemination will be targeted to the most important stakeholders of this project which are European policy makers in selected countries, European GHG Experts and European economic operators that will be contacted and asked for cooperation.

Parallel to that, train-the-trainer sessions for the GHG calculation tools of liquid biofuels (in continuation of the first BioGrace project) will be offered (September 2012 to June 2013).

Phase 2: “Products as drafts” (January 2013 to August 2013)

In this phase, the project partners will actively disseminate the draft results throughout Europe. Policy makers and all other stakeholders will be asked for feedback in small technical meetings as well as in large workshops (i.e. a policy maker workshop and a public workshop). Based on the feedback, the version 2 of the Excel tool will be worked out and supplemented by a user manual and calculation rules.

Phase 3: “Products are complete” (August 2013 to March 2015)

In this phase, products are complete; the methodological background document and the calculation rules are completed, the excel tool version 2 reproduces all production pathways, and the user manual guides users through this tool. This is the time when targeted dissemination is undertaken aimed to reach everyone that is directly or indirectly involved in GHG calculations for electricity, heating and cooling from biomass in Europe. There will be again a policy maker workshop, a public workshop and a series of small technical meetings to present the tool and receive feedback. Small amendments will finalise the tool and a “success workshop” will be organised announced by a large communication campaign to bring the workshop to the attention of every stakeholder in Europe.

Finally the consortium will offer four train-the-trainer sessions.
